Analytic Derivation and Validation of Probabilistic Corrosion Growth Model
Presented during the 2024 Pipeline Technology Conference, this paper discusses the creation of a probabilistic model which makes use of inline inspection (ILI) provided depths and ILI sizing accuracy to determine a probable estimation of future corrosion depth, without the calculation of a corrosion growth rate (CGR). When compared to the depth measured in the field or "actual" values, these estimation predictions were found to be more accurate than depth predictions based on CGR.
